Knauf 75mm insulation acoustic rolls
The Knauf 75mm roll is the well-used product within the acoustic roll range. As a result, this product is extremely popular within the building and construction industry.
The 75mm rolls not only provide acoustic quality, but being one of the thicker rolls, it also gives a great thermal resistance keeping noise out and heat in.
The roll is non-combustible with the best possible Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification. The 75mm roll will not burn when exposed to fire which will prevent the spread of fire between rooms and floors. Knauf installation guide
This is a guide only.
When insulating your home ensure you have consulted a building and construction professional to confirm this is the right product for your property. Installing the wrong insulation can go against building regulations. This can be a costly and time effective mistake. Ensure the floors are free from condensation and mould before insulating.
How to you install 75mm acoustic roll in floor application
When taking measurements, the thickness of the rolls should match the depth of the floor joists.
Firstly, lift up the floorboards and put them to the side. If reusing, make sure they are in good condition. The floor area should be completely clear. Then install the Knauf acoustic rolls between the floor joists.
Secondly, measure the length of the joist from wall to wall and then cut the acoustic roll where necessary using a sharp knife. Do not cut too short as the roll should be snug fitted. Look out for any changes in the wall shape such as chimney breasts, and doors and openings. Cut the roll accordingly around these.
Thirdly, press the rolls firmly into the joists. Tuck the roll into the cavity. Do not flatten the roll into the cavity as this can affect the thermal conductivity. Continue to fill the spaces within the joists until the floor is full.
Fourthly, the floorboards can then be cut to size taking fixings and openings into account and applied horizontally over the floor acoustic rolls and fixed onto the joists using the required fixings.
In addition, acoustic chipboards are recommended if sound proofing is the priority.
Finally, underlay can then be installed over the floorboards followed by the flooring of your choice such as carpet, vinyl or wood flooring.
