Traditionally glass wool products such as Knauf Loft Roll 44 Combi Cut can be itchy or cause skin irritation when handled. In recent years, new manufacturing production methods mean that the product is now classed as low itch. It is always best practice to still protect yourself and others from irritation when handling any mineral wool. Take care when walking in a loft and use a crawl board to safely manoeuvre around.
Installing 150mm Knauf Loft Roll
Knauf Loft Roll (150mm) is multipurpose, which means it can be used for pitched roofs at ceiling level and also suspended timber floors.
Installing Knauf Loft Roll is easy. Knauf Insulation Roll should be carefully cut from the pack and rolled out. Be careful not to block any ventilation into the loft. Always shake the product after it has been rolled out so that the full 150mm thickness can be recovered. Knauf loft roll can be easily cut using a Stanley knife.
The product itself is conveniently combi cut. This means that the loft roll can be placed into two layers to insulate the loft. The first layer should be added between the joists at either 600mm or 400mm centres. The additional layer should be placed at the joist’s right angles. 150mm Knauf Combi-cut loft rolls are partially perforated to allow greater flexibility. This means it is more efficient as it can be used between joists or uncut for use as a full-width roll.
Knauf has provided their own video to help demonstrate how their Loft Roll can be installed.
It is important to note that heat-producing fixtures should be isolated from thermal insulation. This must be done to help prevent fire hazards. Please note that this includes recessed lighting fixtures. You should also ensure that non-combustible downlight protection covers are always installed.
How To Store Knauf Loft Roll 44
Knauf Loft Roll should be kept indoors and dry. We do not recommend outside storage, however, if there is no other option then keep the packs clear off the ground and covered. Harsh weather conditions can cause a reduction in quality so it is important to store the loft rolls correctly when possible. Keeping the loft roll in its original covering can help protect the product.
