What is a Party Wall?

A party wall is a wall that is built to separate two adjoining homes such as semi-detached houses or terraced houses. If you live in a semi-detached or terraced property built before 1990, it’s likely that you have a gap in the wall between you and your neighbour’s property which is called a party wall. This space allows cold air to move up and down resulting in heat loss.

What is Isover RD Party Wall insulation?

Isover Party wall insulation is an insulation material designed to be installed in the party wall separating two properties in order to improve thermal conductivity or to reduce the transmission of noise travelling between the two houses.

How is Party Wall insulation installed?

Party Wall insulation can be installed during a standard house build or it can be added at a later date to homes that have had cavity wall insulation installed in the past. Party Wall insulation can now be installed quickly by drilling a hole in the relevant walls and then injecting mineral wool, polystyrene beads, or other types of insulation materials into the cavity. The drill hole is then filled, and the wall is refinished to match the rest of the wall.

Do I need party wall insulation

If you’re having problems with the party wall in your property such as too much noise from the neighbours adjoining property or a draught / cold spot from that particular wall, a specialist can be called in to see what kind of insulation material will be needed and the best method of installation. It is then ultimately your decision on whether party wall insulation is practical and cost-effective for you.

What are the other benefits of party wall insulation?

  • Party wall insulation will save you money on your energy bills by reducing the amount of heat escaping from the property and the cold air coming in.
  • Isover party wall roll will increase the thermal performance within your property.
  • This can make your home a more comfortable environment that is temperature-controlled with lower noise levels produced from adjoining properties.
  • Your home will be more energy-efficient and sustainable by helping to tackle climate change and global warming by reducing the escaping heat levels.

Please note your property might qualify for fully funded party wall insulation. If you decide to go ahead with the party wall insulation, and you have an old or inefficient boiler, you may be able to get a boiler upgrade for free too.

Always call a specialist to install your Cavity wall insulation to prevent problems occurring in the future or damages being made to the property.
