EcoTherm Eco-Liner plasterboards offer an innovative solution to streamline your insulation project. These boards have been carefully designed to combine the thermal efficiency of PIR (polyisocyanurate) insulation with the structural advantages of plasterboard drylining, creating a versatile 2-in-1 solution.
These boards are constructed with a fiber-free rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation core, which is securely bonded to a 12.5mm tapered edge gypsum plasterboard using a proprietary gypsum adhesive. This unique composition brings together the best of both worlds: exceptional insulation properties and the practicality of gypsum plasterboard.
EcoTherm Eco-Liner Insulated Plasterboard is a versatile choice for different insulation needs. It's particularly suitable for internal wall insulation, including solid, cavity, or timber frame walls. This makes it a valuable addition to both new construction projects and existing properties undergoing renovations.
One of the notable features of Eco-Liner is its adaptability in terms of installation methods. It can be applied using adhesive dot and dab techniques or through mechanically fixed systems. This flexibility makes it suitable for a range of projects to achieve higher thermal performance.
Specifically, EcoTherm Eco-Liner stands out for its suitability in various applications, including:
- Walls: Whether you're insulating solid walls, cavity walls, or timber frame walls, the Eco-Liner offers effective thermal performance.
- Room-in-the-Roof Applications: This type of insulation is ideal for creating comfortable and well-insulated living spaces in rooms located within the roof area.
- Pitched Roofs/Cold Flat Roofs: Eco-Liner can also be used to enhance the thermal properties of pitched roofs or cold flat roofs, ensuring a more energy-efficient building.
- New Build and Renovations: Whether you're starting a new construction project or renovating an existing property, Eco-Liner is a versatile solution for achieving superior insulation performance.
EcoTherm Eco-Liner plasterboards offer not only excellent thermal efficiency but also adaptability and ease of installation. Whether you're a contractor, builder, or homeowner, these boards can be a valuable addition to your insulation project, ensuring both energy savings and improved comfort in your living or working spaces.
The boards are available in sizes 1200mm by 2400mm with thicknesses ranging from 37.5mm to 72.5mm. This is made up of a (PIR) foam board and 12.5mm plasterboard. For example, a 25mm board attached to 12.5mm plasterboard will amount to a 37.5mm insulated plasterboard. This board provides a thermal conductivity of just 0.022W/mK. The boards are lightweight and easy to cut, handle, and install. A fine-toothed saw is recommended to cut insulated plasterboards. A plank of wood or ruler can be handy to create a cutting guide and hold the board in place.

How to install Ecotherm Ecoliner Insulated Plasterboard
The installation of EcoTherm Ecoliner Insulated Plasterboards is a process that greatly enhance both the aesthetics and thermal properties of the building. Below is a detailed guide for a successful installation:
Begin by ensuring that the area where you plan to install the plasterboards is thoroughly prepared. It should be clean, dry, and free from any loose materials, dust, or debris. Measuring and marking the areas where the boards will be applied is essential. Make sure to cut the plasterboards to the correct size for a snug and precise fit.
You have two primary installation methods to choose from: the adhesive method (often referred to as “dot and dab”) and the mechanical fixing method. The choice will depend on your specific project and preferences.
Adhesive Method (Dot and Dab):
- Apply evenly spaced adhesive dots on the back of the plasterboard. These adhesive dots should typically be approximately the size of a walnut.
- Press the plasterboard firmly against the wall or ceiling, ensuring it is level and securely attached. A spirit level can be a helpful tool for confirming a level installation.
Mechanical Fixing Method:
- If you opt for the mechanical fixing method, mark the positions where the fixings will be located, following the manufacturer's recommendations for spacing.
- Drill pilot holes in the plasterboard at these marked positions.
- Secure the plasterboard to the wall or ceiling by driving screws through the pilot holes and into the underlying structure. In this method, you can use plasterboard fixings as needed for additional support.
To create a smooth and airtight surface, it's important to apply sealant to joints and corners. Properly sealed joints and corners not only enhance the overall finish but also prevent drafts and maintain insulation effectiveness.
Once the plasterboards are securely in place, you have the freedom to finish the surface to your liking. This may include applying paint, wallpaper, or other wall coverings to achieve the desired aesthetic in your space.
Remember to carefully follow the manufacturer's specific installation instructions provided with the EcoTherm Ecoliner Insulated Plasterboards. If you are new to this then we suggest getting advice from a building professional. Additionally, ensure that your installation complies with local building codes and regulations relevant to your area. If you have any doubts about any part of the installation process, it is advisable to seek professional guidance or consult with a qualified installer to ensure a successful and effective installation.
